Meeting – March 9
March 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm| $30.00
Guest Speaker – Larry Horner, Solution Architect – Intel
Topic: Transforming 140 years of the Communication Network.
The Global Communications Network started with a simple phone call over 140 years ago. In that time this network has never been turned off or totally out of service. It has grown to connect over 4 billion people around the globe. Viewed as, and truly being, national infrastructure, there are unique demands to this space. This network was built and is managed by over 300 ‘operators’ who spend over 1T USD on capital per year. We are entering a new year where the network of old is quickly fading and a new network built on Standard High Volume Servers is emerging. This disruption is taking the shape of a technology called Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN). Larry will hit on the business motivation and the technical methods being applied today to address this transformation and look forward to the areas where additional work remains.
